There is no wind. In the bay of Aulis, ships loaded with thousands of soldiers await the signal to depart. Because without wind, it is impossible to set sail. Helen has been abducted. But despite the Greeks shouting for vengeance, the war, like the weather, is on hold. The oracles then urge King Agamemnon to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia if he wants the sails to swell.
