Marie-Michelle Deschamps's latest body of work, Coquilles, deals with language on an ontological level. By using asemic writing - a form of writing that abandons traditional meaning in favor of mark-making - Deschamps invites viewers to a playful yet profound encounter with the unknown. Deprived of readability, the essence of language emerges here as a complex system of signs and gestures.
