Muco, raised in Canada, is the daughter of a Burundian refugee who fled the civil war. Kaneza, born in Burundi into a privileged environment, was sent to Canada at the age of 14 to escape the conflicts tearing apart their region. Their parallel and divergent stories reveal their intellectual awakening, their passion for writing, and the complex challenges of returning home.
