In July 2023, Julie Ouellet is doing a residency at the Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France. There, she discovers lush nature and, in an improvised workshop, she works on transcribing and declaiming the landscape observed through the window. Her motif, she says, is a luminous, generous, and also arid nature, amplified by the sound of cicadas resonating even louder as she draws.
