Pussy Riot is a punk artistic collective based in Moscow, Russia. Founded in August 2011, the group has carried out provocative unauthorized performances in public places, featuring music videos posted on the Internet. Their lyrical themes include feminism and opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Their performance in the Cathedral of Christ in Moscow in 2012 made them famous worldwide.
