About event

For generations, the Indigenous peoples of Canada have lived under the laws and values of European colonizers through forced assimilation. The introduction of residential schools, created by the federal government and operated by the Catholic and Anglican Churches, ripped Indigenous children away from their lands, families, languages, and identities. The goal was to bring civilization to the savage people who were deemed unable to civilize themselves.
