About event
Walton's fiery oratorio, Belshazzar's Feast, composed for baritone, choir, and orchestra, is based on the incredible story of the Babylonian king Belshazzar, in which the famous feast scene occurs, where a hand appears and prophetically writes a divine message on the wall. Often compared to Carl Orff's Carmina Burana due to its rhythmic vigor and barbaric splendor, Belshazzar's Feast is now considered one of the best choral works.
