Emel Mathlouthi, known professionally as Emel, is a Tunisian-American singer-songwriter, musician, arranger, and producer. She gained recognition with her protest song \\"Kelmti Horra\\" (My Word is Free), which became the anthem of the Tunisian revolution and the Arab Spring. Since her debut in 2012 with \\"Kelmti Horra,\\" EMEL has released intense and revolutionary music.
