Struck by an arrow, a moose escapes from its pursuers to go and die far away in the forest and offer itself as a feast to its fellow moose. Wasps, flies, and beetles first, then crows, eagles, vultures, and finally all the carnivorous mammals of the boreal forest become guests. The banquet is an opportunity for games, rituals, and conflicts between species and between rivals of the same families.
